Root Canal Therapy
FAQ:
1. What makes a root canal necessary?
Trauma, such as physical blow to a tooth, grinding, deep decay, large filling and severe gum disease are the most common factors.
2.What happens during treatment?
First, we want to relieve any discomfort you might be experiencing. We, then, carefully remove the diseased pulp, fill and seal, the root canal. A temporary filling is placed in the opening of the tooth until the next visit.
3.What care follows the treatment?
A non-vital (endodontically treated) tooth is more brittle than a vital one and is more susceptible to fracture. Therefore, in most cases, we recommend that the tooth be crowned (capped) following treatment. |
